ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter

ALS usually strikes people between the ages of 40 and 70, and at least 16,000 Americans can have the disease at any given time. The mission of the ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter is to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest. On February 7 2020, The ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter took part in the First Look for Charity 2020 for the first time. That night, over $2.8 million was raised in support of the evening’s eighteen charity partners, including the ALS Association Greater Chicago Chapter.

Platinum Cheer Association

Platinum Cheer Association is a non profit focused on recreational competition cheer and community outreach. Serving multiple communities in the south suburbs of Chicago for ages Pre-K through 8th grade, PCA was started by a group of local women who love the sport of cheer and believe Cheer-leading enhances character, independence and social interaction in addition to maximizing each individual’s potential. On January 17 2020, PCA had their annual award ceremony. With over 600 attendees the event was a motivational & supportive gesture for the young athletes.

Fashion No Boundaries

People with disabilities should be more visible and included in the fashion industry. Fashion No Boundaries, has been fostering meaningful experiences & events for people with disabilities through Fashion Shows in the central Illinois, Indiana & Wisconsin areas. Their mission is to encourage people with disabilities and to break barriers of how others view people with disabilities. On August 25 2019, Fashion No Boundaries hosted the Denim & Diamonds Fashion Show. A huge success, the fashion show raised $1,200 for it’s charity!

Night Out For Nadia

On Nov. 7th, 2017, Nadiah Vargo, age 6, was attacked by 2 Rottweilers. She had to undergo 6 surgeries one of which was to repair a punctured lung. Her father, Michael, an Army Veteran had to take a leave from work to be by her side for the duration of her recovery. On March 3 2018, the community hosted, “Night out for Nadiah”. The fundraiser’s mission was to help cover any unpaid medical expenses as well as help the family during Nadiah’s recovery. Thanks to all the generous individuals, the fundraiser was able to provide financial relief to the devastating attack on the little girl.
